My Journey: From Party Girl to Healer
Welcome to my page! My name is Yasmin and I am a Recovery Coach, having been in recovery since May 2021. Alcohol was my go to, my everything. I was never seen without it.
I loved drinking, to make me feel confident and escape from reality, thinking was so funny and fun. The truth is, I was self destructing, losing friends and my dignity on the way. Pushing the limits and boundaries to what was acceptable.
I had no fear and didn’t care that I was hurting myself. As long as l had my drink, life was going to be ok.
Alcohol was my identity, I was the party girl, I never wanted to go home and thought I was the life and soul of the party. But the truth is, I would wake up full of fear, anxiety and wanting to hide under my duvet.
I still managed to go work, be in relationships but I was getting myself into crippling debt and the hangovers were getting worse as well as the consequences. I hurt many people and myself along the way. It was my way to cope, it was my medicine. I drank when I was happy, sad, bored, or just for the sake of it.
I always needed and wanted a drink. But by the end, the drink was controlling my life and I became a slave and it was my master.
I felt so alone and sad and the only way was to drink. I felt I had no purpose and I was hiding my drinking, the bottles, the shame, the guilt, the fear, the self-hatred.
But then I got help and I never looked back. It’s been an ongoing journey of self-discovery, healing, and empowerment to discover who I am, what I like and what I don’t like. To find the strength to have sober conversations and go out into the world where not drinking is seen as the odd thing to do. My life has changed for the best getting sober. Today, I live a happy and free way of living where I make the decision to choose not to drink and live my life to its full potential.
My focus is on Recovery & Healing
